Inclement Weather Policy

Busy Bees will make every effort to remain open during inclement weather. Our goal is to make sound decisions based on the safety of families and staff, while still meeting families’ needs for child care.

Busy Bee may close or delay opening at its discretion. Please note we do not always follow the Federal Government or Baltimore County's  snow/inclement weather closings. In the event that we need to close or delay opening, we will notify you by 5:30 A.M. in the following ways:

  • Email

  • TEXT

  • An outgoing voice message on our phones (note: if the power is out we may not be able to change our voicemail message)

In the event the program closes early we ask that you make arrangements to have your child picked up as soon as possible (within 2 hours).

ENGAGING FAMILIES TO INCREASE CHILDREN’S LITERACY

Research shows that family engagement at home is perhaps the most influential factor affecting literacy and academic outcomes (Shumow, 2010).

Family engagement at home is one of the most important factors to increasing literacy and academic outcomes. A literacy-rich home – including books in the home, regular reading between parents and children, and discussions with children – predicts language and literacy gains in the early years and early grades.

Busy Bees provides BOOKS for PARENTS to take home to engage reading time with your children.
